American actor Danny Masterson, famous for his role in the successful series That ’70s Show, has been charged with raping three women.
The 44-year-old was arrested at 11:30 a.m. PT on Wednesday, June 17, and released shortly before 3 p.m. PT on a $3.3 million bail, according to information available on the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department website.
Authorities allege that Masterson, charged by his full name Daniel Peter Masterson, raped a 23-year-old woman between January and December 2001. Additionally, he is accused of raping a 28-year-old woman in April 2003 and a 23-year-old woman at some point between October and December of that year, as stated in a press release from the District Attorney’s Office.
All the alleged crimes occurred at Masterson’s Hollywood Hills home, authorities said.
The press release from the District Attorney’s Office also disclosed that charges for sexual assault were not filed against Masterson in two other cases, “one for insufficient evidence and the other based upon the statute of limitations for the crime alleged.”
If found guilty, Masterson could potentially face a sentence of up to 45 years to life in state prison.
Masterson is renowned for his portrayal of Steven Hyde on the teenage sitcom “That ’70s Show,” which aired for eight seasons on the Fox network from 1998-2006.
